Faleke Approaches High Court, Seeks Declaration Of Kogi Guber Polls “As Conclusive”

Ahead of the supplementary elections in Kogi State this Saturday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in the November 21 inconclusive governorship election in the state, Hon. James Faleke, has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking among others, the declaration of the election as conclusive.
Faleke, who was running mate to the late Prince Audu Abubakar in the election, is kicking against the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision to conduct a supplementary poll as well as allowing his party, the APC, to present a fresh governorship candidate for the polls.

In a suit filed on Tuesday by his lawyers, including Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and Femi Falana (SAN), Faleke faulted the decision by the INEC that the election was inconclusive.

The APC was leading the election by over 41, 000 votes in 19 out of the 21 local government areas of Kogi before it was declared inconclusive as a result of the cancellation of results in 91 polling units.

In the suit filed by his lawyers, Faleke prayed the court to among others, order INEC to “make a return following the already announced results in the governorship election”.
