Legendary France and Real Madrid defender Christian Karembeu has made a shocking revelation about an alternative career path had he not made it as a professional footballer.
44-year-old Christian Karembeu, retired French international footballer and the current Strategic Advisor of Olympiacos F.C, has revealed that he could have been an adult film entertainer, were his football career not have taken off at French club Nantes in 1990.
The football icon who picked up 53 France caps in a glittering career which saw him lift the World Cup and European Championship, spoke with Spanish sport daily, Marca and admitted that he has many interests outside of football, not least pornography.
The midfielder who spent one season at then-Premier League outfit, Middlesbrough after three campaigns in La Liga with Real Madrid, told the newspaper: ‘If I had not been a footballer, I would have been a doctor, or porn star.’
Karembeu won the Champions League twice with Real, and also spoke to Marca about his old club.
‘In my first season we won (the club’s) seventh Champions League. Real Madrid’s fans spent 32 years waiting for that moment.’
And on the club’s new manager Rafa Benitez, who has so far guided the team to third position in La Liga with 27 points from 13 games, six behind leaders Barcelona, Karembeu said:
‘We must give time to Benitez to make his way, and develop an understanding with his players. In two months we can talk about it. It is early now.’
