See Security Men Deployed To Bayelsa For Election (Photos)

Security men comprising officers of the Nigerian police, civil defence and the army have taken over strategic locations in Bayelsa.

This is an attempt to beef up security ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state.
Speaking in an exclusive chat with Naij.com, Asinim Butswat, the police public relations officer revealed that about 14, 000 police men have been deployed to Bayelsa for the election.

He added the force has made provision for three other surveillance helicopters to also aide patrol activities of the police.

The ppro said the AIG deployed to the state will be patrolling the state in company of other police officers to ensure safety of lives and properties.

Reacting to the allegation that proper provision were not made for the officers’ accomodation , Butswat said police officers are in the state for election duties, hence, the issue of accommodation is not a big challenge as adequate provisions have been made.

The police authority on Friday said there would be restriction of movement from 7pm on Friday to 7am on Sunday.

Vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles and boats fitted with 200 horsepower engine and above would not be permitted to move during the period.

The police however, vowed to prosecute any persons who violate the order.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of police, Solomon Arase had ordered the closure of transportation routes on roads, waterways, and the creeks in all of the 18 local councils of the state.

The order consequently left some travelers who wanted to access Brass local government stranded at the Osborn lake as boats operatives ceased operation in line with the directive.
