Former Presidential Candidate Kidnapped By Unknown Gunmen In Kogi

Ganiyu Galadima, a former presidential candidate and national chairman of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) has been kidnapped in Kogi state.

Galadima contested the 2015 presidential election that saw to the emergence of President Muhammadu Buhari in March 28 but later return to pilot the affairs of his party, ACPN after he lost the election.


Vanguard reported that the politician was kidnapped in Obajana in Osaro, in Kogi state while he was on his way to Ilorin, Kwara state for his elder brother burial.

This ugly incident was confirmed by national chairman of Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), Peter Ojonugwa Ameh saying “My colleague has been kidnapped.”

Ameh in a text message stated: “My colleague, the National chairman and former presidential candidate of ACPN, in 2015 general election, Alhaji Ganiyu Galadima has been kidnapped.”

“He was kidnapped today in Osaro in Kogi State on his way from Abuja to attend the burial ceremony of one of his elder brothers in Ilorin.”

The PPA chairman further disclosed that reports reaching him as it that the abductors of the former presidential candidate had contacted the family demanding for a ransom of N40 million.

Meanwhile, less than 24 hours to Saturday’s governorship supplementary election in some polling units in Kogi state, the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Dekina, Dekina local government area of the state had been partially destroyed by fire.

Eyewitnesses claimed that some thugs invaded the office at about 5am and set it on fire.
