Kaduna 2015 Muslim Pilgrimage Task Force Refunds N40m

In a rare display of honesty, the Kaduna 2015 Hajj Task Force has refunded $200,000 (about N40 million) to the state government.
This as disclosed by the state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai on Saturday, at a town hall meeting organized to deliberate on the proposed N166 billion 2016 budget for Kaduna State.

El-Rufai, who commended the chairman of the task force, Sani Sale, reiterated his commitment to sanitizing governance and implementing people-oriented policies.

Speaking on measures taken by his administration to reduce cost of governance, Governor El-Rufai said the state had taken steps to instill financial discipline.

“As I asked in an earlier speech, how can the political elite justify spending public resources mainly on an influential minority?

“Is it fair or justifiable that the voters should be without stake in a system that draws its legitimacy from their mandate? And this selfishness was practiced openly”, he said.
