A former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olabode George has expressed confidence that the party will sack the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019 general election.
In order to achieve this, Chief Olabode George implored his party members to close ranks, and stop trading blames over the party’s loss in the 2015 presidential election and prepare for what lies ahead.
In a no-holds-barred interview with Saturday Sun, the PDP chieftain said he cannot forgive former president Olusegun Obasanjo, as well as Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his prison ordeals.
He however informed that he remains optimistic that the party will bounce back in 2019, adding also that Lagos is one of the states the PDP hopes to win in coming election.
Reminiscing on the past, he lamented that the party was on the verge of winning Lagos state during the 2015 general elections but for the activities of some dubious party members who deceived Jonathan and messed up, leading to the defeat of the party’s gubernatorial aspirant, Jimmy Agbaje.
He said: “One joker in Lagos State told Jonathan that he has Lagos State under his armpit and that he would single-handedly deliver Lagos State to PDP. Unfortunately, Jonathan listened to these liars and manipulators.
“These elements took advantage of Jonathan’s good nature. He trusted them, but these congenital liars betrayed Jonathan. If our party leaders had listened to us, things would not have turned out that way.”
He reiterated the confidence that the party will perform well in the Kogi elections, adding that party members are are going to work together as a family to achieve this.
He pleaded with disgruntled PDP members bwho left the left the party to come back home stating that PDP will bounce back.
Meanwhile, Bode George has denied receiving N100 million from Dasuki, which was part of the $2.9 billion arms deal from the office of the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
The PDP chieftain wondered where such reports came from, saying it is sickening and sad to peddle false stories in the name of journalism.
