President Muhammadu Buhari participated at roundtable and bilateral meetings between Chinese and African leaders at the China-Africa Corporation Forum in Johannesburg.

President Buhari was accompanied by Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno Rtd, the national security adviser, Brig. Gen. MM Ali, the minister of defence, and Geoffrey Onyema, the minister of foreign affairs at different stages of the meetings.

He met with the president of Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, and the president of Guinea-Bissau, José Mário Vaz. Nigeria and Angola agreed to cooperate and also reach out to other oil-producing countries in an effort to shore up the dwindling price of oil on the global market.

Within the framework of the official business visit to South Africa, President Buhari has already met with the Chinese president Xi Jinping and discussed mutually beneficial Nigerian-Chinese projects.

Chinese online media have already published reports about President Buhari calling China a strategic and dependable partner.
