A police officer identified as Sgt. Patrick Sunday was killed in a shootout with armed robbers who invaded a community bank in the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi state, Dailypost reports.
The deceased officer was killed alongside two of the armed robbers, Yakubu and another unidentified male.
The state police public relations officer, William Aya, while parading 21 suspects in connection with the killing of the officer at the police command headquarters in Lokoja on Tuesday, December 8, said the incident happened on Friday, November 27.
Aya added that the hoodlums engaged the police in a gun duel, leading to the death of the officer, while two of the criminals were also killed.
The state police public relations officer said the police recovered from the robbery scene two AK47 Riffles, ten AK 47 Magazines, one hundred AK 47 live ammunition, one face mask, one Techno and ITEL mobile phone, one crape bandage, one pack of cotton wool, one bottle of Dettol and two sachet of hard drugs.
Meanwhile, a motorcyclist, popularly known as okada rider, Saheed Bamiro was shot dead by a policeman, identified only as Kabiru.
The deceased was involved in issuing tickets to riders in Ijebu Ode and was a native of Ijebu Igbo in Ijebu North local government area of the state.
