SEE How Nigerian Refugee Kids Brought Former UK Foreign Secretary To His Knees Has He Visits IDP Camp In Maiduguri

Refugee children living in an IDP camp in Maiduguri brought David Miliband, a former UK foreign secretary, to his knees on Monday, December 7.

PM News reports that Miliband, president of the New York-based International Rescue Committee, dropped to his knees, then sat back to make eye contact with scores of children who were singing “ABC” to him.

Miliband, who is currently on a tour of camps, told journalists that he was saddened that so many children have been orphaned by the 6-year Islamic uprising that has killed 20,000.
“It’s important for us to be in the places which make the headlines, but also important to be in the places that don’t,” he said.
Speaking with the refugee children, Miliband asked one young boy what he wished for.
“I want to go back home. Help us to get back to our home,” the child answered.
Refugees told the former foreign secretary that they want to go home, but only when it is safe.
Maiduguri, which is the birthplace of the Boko Haram sect, has been attacked by the insurgents many times.
Two weeks ago, a female suicide bomber detonated her Improvised Explosive Device along Maiduguri-Mafa road in Borno state, killing eleven people in the process.
Last week, the Nigerian military revealed that it arrested an 11-year-old boy who was trained as a suicide bomber and infiltrated into a Maiduguri camp to attack refugees.
Meanwhile, official sources have said that the military have begun a tactical offensive against Boko Haram insurgents in what appears to be a final showdown with the terrorists.
