Nigeria’s Health Workers Union To Continue With Strike

Nigeria’s health workers union says there is no going back on the strike they embarked upon sixty-nine days ago.

The president of the medical and health workers union, Ayuba Wabba told AIT’s correspondent in Abuja that the strike will only be called off if government accedes to their demands.

The general secretary of the union Marcus Omokhuale also confirmed to AIT through a telephone call on Tuesday that since the last meeting between representatives of the striking workers and federal government on December 15 2014, it is yet to receive any memo from the government on the next line of action.

The striking workers under the umbrella of joint health sector unions, Johesu, had embarked on an indefinite industrial action on November 12,2014, to demand government’s response on issues of better working conditions, and the implementation of the judgment by the national industrial court.
